We at Collaborative Artists Bloc (CAB) are excited to launch our 2019 SEASON, and would love for you to join us on this journey!
We are beginning our Sophomore year with renewed passion and commitment to make a lasting social change through art, and we humbly ask for your help to make our vision a reality. CAB is at a challenging yet exciting time in its life: we are in the process of applying for grants and need our community more than ever to keep growing!
CAB is a nonprofit organization and registered 501c3 dedicated to bringing theatre that impacts social change to underserved communities in Los Angeles. We bring our projects to life with your help and individual donations. Help us tell OUR STORIES and have OUR VOICES heard.

In 2018, CAB launched the AMERICAN SAGA series which explores the narratives of diverse communities, including ethnic, racial, religious, sexual, and gender minorities. That year, CAB was instrumental in bringing to life AMERICAN SAGA: Gunshot Medley - Part I by Dionna Michelle Daniel. Produced by Rogue Machine Theatre, the production received rave reviews and toured to the community of Watts. The play poignantly and elegantly tackles issues connected to Black Lives Matter, social responsibility, and civic duty.
"Elegant, moving and rigorous. Poetic theatre." - Cultural Weekly
"4/4 Stars. A cry from the heart." -Total Theatre
"Ineffable soul. A unique piece of theatre." -Theatre Notes
"Top Ten. Deep heartbreak and incomparable soul." -Stage Raw
"[Dionna Michelle Daniel] Another Hansberry." -The Progressive

We are incredibly excited to announce that, for our 2019 SEASON, and because of the level of impact of last year's show, Rogue Machine Theatre and Collaborative Artists Bloc will be co-producing a Special Revival of AMERICAN SAGA: Gunshot Medley - Part I to be held at Rogue Machine's new space at the Electric Lodge in Venice, California! This allows us to bring this important piece of work to an entirely new community and moves us forward in our mission. We expect to open during the first week of July.

Additionally, this year, we are helping to build the stories of tomorrow. We have been diligently working on ushering new stories to the forefront that deal with social change and our individual identity. Through our reading series, we have built a beautiful partnership with Zora Howard, writer of the play STEW. This thought-provoking piece explores the substance of that special stuff passed between kinswomen and how the secrets we keep from our mothers eventually become the secrets we keep from ourselves... As a part of our 2019 SEASON, we will be doing a special development workshop of this important play in Los Angeles.

Finally, we have our CAB Reading Series, where we continue to support new voices and playwrights. In this series, we provide readings of new plays that are promoting social change by some of the emerging and energetic voices in our communities. This year we will be doing readings of plays like In the Palm of a Giants by author Christopher Gabriel Núñez coming soon and more new pieces throughout the year. For more information on the series please visit our CAB Reading Series webpage.
We are a diverse group of artists telling stories that explore cultural identity, promote social change, and build empathy to the full spectrum of our individual realities.
We believe that at its core, art seeks to change. As John Butler says "art changes people, people change the world."
