As most of you already know, Buster Wolfe recently went in to have his gallbladder removed. They weren't able to remove all of it, as it was too inflamed and the gallstones were causing issues.
He is currently at home with a drain tube. He was to go in and have the drain tube removed and have a stint put in, however when they went in to have the procedure done, the hospital told them they weren't able to do the procedure until they paid $3,000+ for the procedure and $600+ for the anesthesiologist. Since Buster is self-employed, he currently doesn't have health insurance. He would have to pay $3,600 just to get started; this amount isn't including the ER visit and the initial surgery.
Buster called his surgeon who has been very helpful, to let him know what the hospital was advising. The doctor said he could be admitted through ER but there are all the unnecessary charges that they would get billed for or they could just do it the "old timey" way and just leave the drain tube in. He said he spoke with some of his older collages that have done it this way in the past and they recommend getting the stint. Buster told him that the drainage in now back to the light red color unlike it was the last time they saw him. This made the doctor feel better about everything and decided to keep the drain tube and have Buster come in for a recheck. Buster also had told him that the excruciating pain happened every time he took pain meds. The doctor thinks the pain meds were causing spasms which released the gallstone and made the duct start leaking bile. Now that he hasn't been taking pain meds because of the pain it caused it has stopped the spasms and closed the duct from leaking. We will know more after Buster's recheck this week. (11/2/15)
Since all this started, Buster hasn’t been able to work and if he doesn't work he doesn’t get paid. He hasn't been able to work for three weeks so far due to the excruciating pain before diagnosis.
I am hoping to raise money for Buster and Kelly to help with medical expenses and day to day bills.
Any amount will help, and I would love to see this family get help they so willingly offer anyone else that needs it!
If you know Buster and Kelly, you know they would give the shirt off their backs or the last dollar they had to help anyone!
