MUNGU ASIFIWE!! As most of you know, the Lord has given me a burden for Africa. About a year ago He told me to focus on the nation of Burundi. Burundi is a small country in East Africa and is unfortunately one of the poorest in the world. 247wallst.com had this to say about ranking Burundi as the #1 poorest country in the world, “Bordered by three other countries on this list, Burundi is a landlocked country in sub-Saharan Africa — and the poorest in the world. While many of the poorest countries have rapidly growing economies, economic activity contracted by 0.6% in Burundi in 2016 — even as the global economy expanded by 2.4%.Economic growth and prosperity are likely stymied by conflict in Burundi. The country has been embroiled in an ethnic civil war for over a decade.”Alexis Ciza is an amazing man of God who has started a Teen Challenge in Gitega, Burundi. Over the last year I have tried to help him as much I could financially and prayerfully with his struggle of running a ministry there. We have successfully raised money for him to start a chicken coup and a pig pen on the property they rent in order to help bring in some funding for the ministry. We have talked about me coming to visit but I needed to focus my time and effort on my marriage with Regina. Now that Regina and I are in a better financial situation, the Lord has given me peace about going to visit Alexis in Burundi. I will be going for about 30 days to help educate him and his staff about Teen Challenge as well as ministering to the people of Burundi. I also will be sending my brother Joseph Countryman to meet me there to assist in street ministry.The plane ticket is around $1300 and for Countryman to come, visas, travel expenses and on the ground expenses, I am asking for $2000 for the trip.
