Building A Handicapped Home For Alanna
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Natalie Rabold. I'm starting a Gofundme for my sister Alanna Pelkey. Alanna has had her whole world turned upside down when a recent failed nerve conduction test and stat MRI identified a rare lipoma inside her spinal cord sheath compressing her spinal cord.
Alanna was transferred to Hershey where she underwent a complicated surgery in an attempt to remove the tumor. Surgery didn't go as planned. This type of tumor is congenital, over the years as it slowly grew it enveloped nerves and compressed her spinal cord until it was paper thin. Doctors were unable to remove the tumor and the trauma from the surgery left Alanna mostly paralyzed from the waist down.
Alanna is now in Penn State Hershey undergoing rehab to regain the use of her lower body. She participates in grueling physical and occupational therapy daily while battling pain, muscle spasms and the emotional toll of uncertainty. Due to COVID, visitation is limited to designated immediate family.
Alanna is a strong woman and is doing amazing keeping her spirits up and fighting strong. It has to be incredibly difficult being separated from her children and dealing with these physical and emotional barriers. I created this gofundme to lighten her load and assist with her medical expenses and any future needs. Thank you. - Natalie
