A little over two months ago we were shopping for flowers and ran into Sparky at an adoption event by Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. It was love at first sight, and we adopted this little mutt who is now called Buddy. At the time of the adoption, we asked the rescue about his limp and his misshaped right front leg, and we were told that he was found in a bear trap. We took Buddy to the vet for an x-ray to see what exactly was going on with his leg. The x-ray revealed something far different than a bear trap. His humerus bone had suffered a compound fracture and had healed without being properly set. Buddy’s right front leg is one inch shorter than his left front leg. His right front leg is turned outward, as well. The x-ray also revealed that Buddy had been shot. He has three BB-like objects in his chest and right shoulder area. This tough little guy endured a lot of abuse in his first two years of his life. The vet sent Buddy’s x-ray to a veterinary orthopedic surgeon to see if Buddy’s leg could be fixed. Due to the severity of the past injury, later in Buddy’s life, severe arthritis would inhibit his quality of life and we would be forced to amputate his leg. The orthopedic surgeon says he can re-break the bone and set it properly to give him the fuller, happier life that he deserves. However, the surgery is very expensive. We are asking for help, and that’s where you come in. We need $3000 to help cover Buddy’s surgery and medical expenses. If we receive any extra funds, we would like to donate them to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue to pay it forward to other animals in need.
Please help Buddy and us pay for his surgery so that he can run and play as much as he wants to.
We sincerely thank you for any help and support that you can give us.
Puppy kisses and Thanks!
Buddy, Julie, & Toni
PS. Anything we raise beyond the needs of Buddy's Surgery we will be donating to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue (https://www.homewardtrails.org/ ) to help other injured Stray dogs they rescue get the medical treatment that they need.
