Bubba and his brother Bryce from our trip to ny last year!
No 1 update: 8/14/25
“expert” pathology came back still inconclusive but enough to have the Doctor say it’s now a Type B Lymphoma, still not certain if it’s non or Hodgkins! His back is starting to hurt again! Not like before but come on peeps take us off this roller coaster! Blood work in Friday and first outpatient tentatively for Monday! I am scared to death! I really don’t want him opened up!
Come on people , let’s get this out there and please share and donate if you can!
My son, everyone knows as Bubba, aka Charlie, 18 years old this past May, just graduated from Pinnacle High School. He was a wrestler for the past 3 years. He wrestled everyday 5-6 times per day, went to tournaments up until February 2025! Accepted to go into the Air Force/Space Force and was supposed to go to Boot Camp on 8/19/25! He had his whole life in front of him! On Friday, 7/18/25, we went into urgent care. He didn't want to pay a ton of money if this was only a pulled muscle! If only that’s what it was! Urgent care sent us to the ER. He had a lump on his left rib that just appeared, and his back was killing him! Fast forward to the ER, he had a full CT scan, blood drawn and the ER doctor says, 'You have cancer!' I about lost my mind. What? No way! WTF! How can you be that cruel, not knowing?
He was admitted and went upstairs to a room on the 4th floor. The very next day Saturday 7/19/25 , we saw the oncologist. He started to not feel his legs and had a hard time walking and going to the bathroom. He has a lesion on his spleen, liver, and spine! He had a bone marrow and lymph node test on Monday. They consulted with a Neurologist now talking about surgery to remove the legion compressing his spine! That surgery the Dr. told me would be about 6 hours! I have had back surgery and if at possible he would like to avoid that! That would be hard to recover from surgery and chemo! He is a rockstar though, so I know he would get through it! I just don’t want to open the kid up if we don’t have to!
The doctor said that strong steroids along with the chemo can and has melted the legions away, so they started him on strong steroids immediately. His blood levels are still very low, and at first, he was neutropenic, he is not now but we still have to watch him!
He was diagnosed with cancer, but they aren’t 100% sure. It is presenting as T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma! Very aggressive, and they did not have time to wait for the pathologist to get a clear diagnosis! The oncologist said we don’t have time to wait 2-3 weeks, he was good starting him on the chemo and one week from his very first diagnosis 7/25/25 he started chemotherapy! CHOP to be exact!
We are not rich. At one time, I worked 3 jobs! We are like your normal family getting by! We did not expect this; no one does! He was worried about the expenses because everything is in his name! Our insurance is a high deductible and our new year just started on June 1st! I am worried about the prescriptions that are not covered, food, and gas going back and forth to chemo! So with said, these fund will be used for our high deductible high out of pocket total 8400, along with food, gas (back and forth to treatments) medication, anything else that’s need!
Bubba is a great kid. He is smart, strong, and very funny! He’s quiet but talks to his friends and family! He has a great attitude. He said, 'This was all fun and games until the chemo started!' I told him I will always worry about him, He told me, 'No need to worry, it already happened!'
Please share with everyone you know. I don’t want him to have the stress of medical bills and school hanging over his head! I want him to just focus on getting better and school!
If you know someone that can help, or you can, please do! Any little bit helps! I know everyone is having a hard time! Most of all, please share, share, share, and pray! He’s a great kid, he’s my baby! I only want the best for him and I want him to do great things! He will get past this, but we have a long road ahead head of us! Thank you all!
