A severe traffic accident occurred early Tuesday morning at the junction of 27 business and highway 27 on the south end of Nashville's business district. A white, Texas tagged, one-ton Chevrolet pickup with a feed hopper on the bed collided with a loaded log truck registered with a company based out of Gurdon.
Heavy fog was present, with visibility being 30 feet or less in some areas.
Nashville police said that the first call came in about 6:15 a.m., with Nashville fire department being called out at 6:24 a.m.
Members of Nashville fire rescue and police, Howard County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police worked the scene. Even members of Nashville Animal Control assisted in traffic control at the scene, as drivers passing by could not see to pass safely without assistance because of the fog.
Police reported that the three occupants of the pickup all suffered severe injuries, with the two male occupants being transported to St. Michael's hospital in Texarkana and the female occupant taken to Howard Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the log truck suffered minor injuries.
The accident site had not been cleared as of 9:15 a.m.
