Brooks’ Bereavement Bears

Donation protected
Hello my name is Taylor, and I started a Brevement Bear Non profit for women in North East Ohio who have suffered a pregnancy loss called Brooks Bereavement Bears.

My husband and I married in October 2019 and quickly wanted to start a family. We became pregnant late February 2020 in the start of the COVID Lockdown. We were so excited to be parents for the first time, looking at nursery decorations and thinking about names. We made the decision and told our families right away.

April 1st was my first ultrasound. My husband and my mother waited patiently in the car. It killed me that my first pregnancy would be going to ultrasounds alone. They found a heart beat but the baby was measuring a bit behind. My midwife told me that she wasn't concerned. 8 days later my worst nightmare happened. I started to bleed. I was 9 weeks.

I was rushed to the Summa ER where i also had to go alone... and my husband waited in the car. I was an emotional wreck. After hours of blood tests and an ultrasound, the resident doctor came in and told me that my pregnancy wasnt viable and there was no heartbeat and left. No one could hug me or comfort me. I wasn't offered any comfort items but was told to follow up with my OB the next day to schedule a DNC. I was depressed for a long time. I had to walk into the OBGYN with a bunch of happy women holding their beautiful ultrasounds and to go into a room and have an ultraound of my baby not moving and be told again their was no heartbeat and to schedule a DNC which happened the very next day.

While grieving, a family member gave me a teddy bear like the one above from Demadaco Giving Bear Collection. It helped me so much at night to hold onto something and cry.

My husband and I got pregnant a couple months later and had our Rainbow baby, Brooks almost a year to the day that we lost our first child.

The next year on the anniversary of our loss. I donated the same bears to the Summa Hospital OBGYN to give to women who go through a loss at the ER or at the OGBYN offices. I tie a blue and pink ribbon around the bears neck with a message of love and hope.

I can order the bears through the purchaser at whole sale cost for $16 a bear.

If anyone can help, I would be eternally grateful. This means so much to me and helps me in my grieving process.

Thank you, everyone. You are appreciated and you are loved.
