Brook's travel to Jager K9 Service Dog Fundraiser

Hello, my name is Teresa. I am starting our last fundraiser for my daughter Brook.

In January 2020, Brook was involved in a ski collision, receiving a severe concussion. It wasn't long after her accident that she woke up and could not move or talk for 8 hours. Thankfully, she came out of full-body paralysis. However, this is only the beginning of her journey.

After months of ER visits with no answers, Brook was finally diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder and just this June 2022; she was also diagnosed with PoTS. This means that Brook randomly faints and can go into full-body paralysis, often accompanied by spasms that look like seizures. She can see and hear, but she cannot talk or move. The episodes last seconds to hours and are unpredictable. Needless to say, this has gravely impacted her life. She had to take a leave from MRU, where she was pursuing her Geology degree. She cannot work or go out in public without someone being with her as a medical attendant. It has been four years since her accident, and her episodes are not improving. Brook did receive a service dog Grayson from Aspen service dog. However, do to improper training and a serious lack of care from the agency about the issue she was having with Grayson. He was deems unfit to be a service dog and they decommissioned him in early 2023. It was heart breaking for all of us to lose Grayson after having him for suck a short period of time. Aspen admitted fault and fully refunded us as they were in breach of contract.

Brook is scheduled to receive her new service dog this June in Ontario. However, the cost of travel is not cheap. The plane ticket came to $1500. This does not include the cost of accommodation, food, etc.

Brook is looking forward to getting her new dog. And being able to start all over again with continuing to living her life with the aid of a service dog. Some of the tasks she will be trained to do for her are: detect that she will be having an episode early so she can get to a safe place, help her balance to prevent falling, help press her medical alert button when she is in danger due to her medical episodes (to call an ambulance), roll her onto her side in medical episodes to keep her airway open, plus many other beneficial tasks.

Please help us reach our final goal of raising the last $4000 to cover the cost of TRAVEL ONLY! Brook's new service dog is completely paid for. All donations are appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.

I would also like everyone to know, the $1900 that was received over a year ago, already went to purchasing Grayson.
As we are still using the same GoFundme, to be clear, our goal is to raise $4000 for Brook to fly to Jager K9 in Ontario. Our goal is to raise the cost of the funds for the flights ($1500 + accommodation, food and travel) so we are still aiming to raise $4000.
The last time funds were donated to this GoFundMe for Grayson was over a year ago.

Thank you all for your gracious support over the years. Bless all of you with kind hearts!
