Brooke Miley kidney transplant

Donation protected
We would like to thank everyone who has donated to Brooke's cause.  We have just received word that a hospital has reevaluated her case and has decided to accept her as a patient.  The blessings abound!

We are still seeking possible donors and will notify you as soon as times and places have been arranged with the doctors.  Thank you so much for your willingness to give and your support.

My name is Sherry Pittman, a family friend.  My daughter and I set up this account and I will be distributing the funds to the family for travel expenses, hotel rooms, food, etc. during the time of the surgery.  Also, we want to raise enough to help with the donor family's expenses and missed salary while they give the ultimate gift of life to our Brooke. Please read Brooke's remarkable story below and thank you all again!

This is a story about a beautiful young lady named Brooke who has been blessed with miracle after miracle. Born to a loving,  Christian family in a small Southern town,   she has always been a fiesty young lady with fiery red hair to match her strong will and personality.

At the age of 13 months, she was diagnosed with a rare heart disease and given a very short time to live.   Panic and desperation set in when the doctors said she needed a heart transplant but that her tiny body was already shutting down and it may be too late to save her.  Her family and friends prayed for a miracle and just 5 weeks later, she received a gift....the gift of life...a new heart.

Her body responded so well, she was up and playing within days and discharged from the hospital in just 3 weeks.  Her fiery red curls never stopped bouncing.  Everyone who knew her realized then what an amazing fighter she was.

She continued to thrive until she was 5 years old.  After being in kindergarten for just a couple of months,  which she loved, another blow came when she was diagnosed with Post Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disease (PTLD), a form of lymphoma that is very common in transplant children.  While it was enough to get anyone down, it never stopped Brooke and she even returned to school with a port after missing only 49 days of school!  She continued living life to the fullest and participated in every activity imaginable....cheerleading, gymnastics, tennis, track, showchoir, beauty pageants, even competing in the Transplant Olympics numerous times...the list goes on and on.

She graduated from Sumrall High School in 2013 with special honors and received a full college scholarship to Jones County Community College where she continued to cheer, which she enjoyed so much.  Shortly into her freshman year, the PTLD returned.  Brooke had 4 rounds of chemotherapy and only missed one game because she was so weak!  She is one of the most determined people you could ever know!

Today, we are asking for help for yet another miracle in Brooke's young life.  She is now 20 years old, a nursing student with the goal of becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist.   Because of long term medications to prevent rejection, her kidneys have suffered greatly and she has been in chronic kidney failure for several years.  We knew a kidney transplant was inevitable.  Several weeks ago she received the news that it was time.  Her kidney function had dropped too low to continue without dialysis and/or a transplant.

Doctors started the process and she  just received the news that the only transplant center in her state will not accept her because of her form of insurance.  The next step is to find a facility that will, provided that her insurance will allow her to be treated in another state.  Time is of the essence.  Waiting on the hospital to reject her case cost her valuable and precious time.

Brooke is a fighter, an overcomer, a winner. Brooke gives, smiles, laughs, praises, and brightens the lives of others.  Brooke touches everyone she meets and has always been an example of strength to anyone who knows her.  To be in awe of Brooke and her resiliance and determination is not a rare thing.  Help us continue this fight for her.  Help us help her.  Help us relieve the fears this family faces and once again, give Brooke the gift of life.

The amount being requested is for the average cost of a kidney transplant without insurance plus some money for traveling out of state and lodging.  Once insurance has approved another hospital, we will drastically change the amount requested.

We are also asking that anyone who would like to be tested for a possible donor match, please contact us through Gofundme.  We will notify everyone when it is time to be tested.  Any help will be appreciated greatly.

Brooke deserves a full, beautiful, happy future, a chance to follow her dreams and continue to touch the lives of others. Please help the fairy tale that is Meagan Brooke Miley have a happy ending and help keep her red curls bouncing.  Thank you and Godspeed.
