I’m a single mother of two children, and our lives were turned upside down when severe flooding caused devastating damage to our home. The entire lower level of our home was destroyed, including furniture, personal belongings, and the safe space my children called home.

One of the hardest parts of this loss is that my daughter’s brand-new bedroom was completely ruined. She worked hard and paid for it herself, and seeing something she was so proud of taken away so suddenly has been heartbreaking for all of us.

The floodwaters caused over $70,000 in damages, and unfortunately, much of the cost must be paid out of pocket. We now have to replace major essentials including our furnace, water heater, washer, dryer, water softener, and even our air conditioner — all fully submerged. Along with flooring, walls, furniture, and so much more, the cost to make our home safe and livable again is overwhelming.

As a mom, my biggest priority is making sure my children have stability, comfort, and a place to feel secure. Right now, we are doing everything we can to rebuild, but we cannot do it alone.
