On April 26, 2020 at 1401, our head nurse was called home after a long battle with Covid-19. She fought valiantly and with the tenacity that only one Maria Guia Cabillon is known for.
Maria Guia Cabillon was the head nurse at Kings County Hospital Emergency Room. She was the glue that cemented and kept the ER staff they way it is. She ran a tight ship at the zoo that the ER can be and she ran it effortlessly. Everyone who has crossed paths with Guia has a story to share about her. In the 30+ years of service she has dedicated to nursing, she has touched so many lives in one way or another. Selflessly, she took all residents, attendings, nurses, EMTs, PCA, PCTs, techs, and many others under her wings and treated us nothing short as her own children. Whatever she had, she would share. You didn't have to know Guia personally to know the impact she has on all our lives. You can feel it in the testimonies of all the people she loved and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, 4 daughters, 2 grandkids, sisters, nieces and nephews. We are forever grateful that they shared her with us and she allowed us to be a part of her family.
As a small token of our appreciation for her life, we've set up this GoFundMe as a means to help bring Mama Guia back home to Iloilo, Philippines.
Any amount will be helpful. All proceeds from this fundraising will go directly to her daughters here in the US, Fatima and April.
Thank you all in advance.
