About This Fund
My name is Ashley Rae, and I’m the devoted mother of two beautiful children, Sedona James and Cave Outlaw. I’ve been their primary caregiver since birth, nurturing them with love, stability, and spiritual grounding. While I was partnered I was a stay at home mom. After separating from their father in 2021, my children and I moved to Arizona, where I continued to care for them full-time while navigating the challenges of new single motherhood. During that time, their father did not live nearby and was unable to provide the parental and financial support we needed.
In 2023, we relocated to Austin under the promise of receiving both financial and parental support from my co-parent. Unfortunately, those promises were not fulfilled. As a result, since August 2023, I have been separated from my children—only seeing them every other weekend—while working to establish myself here.
As of February 2025 I am in an ongoing legal journey to protect their well-being and reunite our family.
More context :
After two years of building a life for myself and my children in Arizona post-separation, we were barely given enough financially to build upon. I was not provided with the resources needed to secure childcare, which made it extremely difficult to work and support us financially. Still, I always did everything I could with what we had, and I never wavered in prioritizing my children’s best interests.
Ultimately, life in Arizona was not sustainable without my co-parent’s financial and parental support. I also deeply wanted my children to grow up with both parents actively involved in their lives. So, under a mutual agreement, my children and I moved to Austin in August 2023—with the understanding that I would receive both financial and parental support in return.
Unfortunately, that support was never provided.
Since arriving in Austin, I have been working tirelessly to establish myself and create a stable home. Once I did, I requested that my children return to my full-time care and that we begin working with a co-parenting counselor to better meet their ongoing emotional and developmental needs. Instead of collaboration, I was met with a lawsuit.
As of now, the Motion to Transfer Venue was not granted, meaning our case will continue in Atascosa County. The next hearing—for temporary orders—is scheduled for September 9th.
I am preparing—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—for my children to return home to me, as agreed upon by both parents. However, their father is not upholding that agreement, is not court-ordered to pay child support at this time, and is about to go on tour out of state for months—leaving all parental and financial responsibilities solely in my hands.
I am working, enrolled in a certification program to increase my earning potential once again, and doing everything within my power to create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for my children. I will need to secure childcare, enroll them in extracurriculars, and provide for all of their basic needs—housing, transportation, food, water, and emotional support—on my own while we await court-ordered support.
This fund is here to build a safety net as we bridge the gap—ensuring my children have everything they need to thrive in this transition.
