Sam Ramirez is a 29-year-old father who has called the United States home since he was 6 years old. He grew up here, graduated from high school, and was given DACA as a child. He built his life around providing for his young daughter.

On Friday, October 16, Sam was unexpectedly detained by ICE over claims that his DACA documentation had expired. Just last month, he traveled to Arizona for a hearing and was told his DACA documentation was valid until 2029. Although that hearing was deferred, Sam believed his documentation remained current. Even so, he was taken into custody, spent the night in jail, and has since been transferred to a detention facility in Washington state, far from his family.

Sam has spent 23 of his 29 years in America. His home, his livelihood, and the people he loves are here. Most importantly, he is the father of a 4-year-old daughter who is now separated from him, while Presley, Sam's daughter's mother, is facing the uncertainty of when their child will see her father again.

This fundraiser is being organized on behalf of Presley and her daughter to help secure the experienced immigration attorney Sam urgently needs. Donations will help cover legal fees, court-related expenses, and costs associated with his detention so he has the opportunity to have his case heard and fight for his future.
