On Friday, December 19th Jim and Jean left their home at 5pm to go to dinner, at 6pm their daughters saw smoke coming from the top of their hill, found fire coming out of the roof of their parents home and called 911.
Their daughter Liz risked her safety trying to find their dog Beau, unlocking both side doors and calling for him through the smoke, but despite her best efforts he was already gone. The firefighters found him inside, but CPR could not revive him. This is Jim and Jean's greatest loss, he was their constant companion.

Many people have been asking us, their family, how they can help. We have decided that this is the best way, while we wait to hear back from insurance companies. The house is considered a total loss, Jim and Jean have lost all of their clothes and daily personal belongings. All funds raised will go directly to help Jim and Jean to rebuild their lives and home. They lost all the antiques, Jean's family heirlooms and items from Jim's military career. Some things are irreplaceable but we are beyond grateful that no persons were hurt.
Jim and Jean will be staying next door with their daughter Mary until their home can be rebuilt. All of the calls, cards, food, visits and help we have already received have been appreciated beyond measure. The support of their family and friends is invaluable and we are all so very grateful for it after this shocking and difficult event.

We, their family, are starting this campaign on their behalf. It is difficult for all of us to ask for help. Jim and Jean have always believed in helping others first and now we want to help give back to them.
