Hi, my name is Alex Morales, and I’m raising funds for my grandmother, Elicia Morales, who lost everything today, June 19th, 2025, in a devastating house fire in Brentwood, California.
This wasn’t just any house. It was the home her father built by hand, a place filled with years of memories, love, and quiet strength. It was the home where she cared for her father during the last years of his life, and where she wanted to spend the last years of her life, where we gathered as a family, and though it wasn’t much it felt safe. Now it’s gone. Everything, her clothing, furniture, our childhood photos, and decades worth of our family’s lifelong belongings, was destroyed in minutes.
When the fire broke out this morning, my brother was there with her. He helped her get out of the house just in time. But in the chaos, my grandma tried to go back in. She didn’t want to leave her dogs. She didn’t want to lose the only thing she owned. My brother had to stop her from going back inside. Seconds later, the windows exploded. The house was overtaken by flames, and there was nothing we could do.
She was able to save two of her dogs, but we believe my dog “lil girl” was lost in the fire. Along with the home, multiple outbuildings were destroyed, her storage sheds, neighbors ADUs, and kennels that were part of her daily life. What was once a peaceful family property is now ash and rubble.
My grandmother lives on SSI, with no savings, and no resources to rebuild on her own. She’s a strong, humble woman who has always made do with very little. She raised me and my brothers since we were baby’s it breaks my heart she’s facing something no one should have to face, losing her home, our pets, her belongings, and her independence in a single morning.
We’re asking for your help, any help. Donations will go toward emergency housing, basic necessities like food and clothes, vet care for her surviving pets, and eventually the enormous task of rebuilding some piece of what was lost.
