2018 has been a trying one. Earlier this summer, my little nephew Brayden was diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS - a rare malignant soft tissue tumor that is formed from embryonic skeletal muscle tissue) and began chemotherapy a week before his 3rd birthday (on July 4th.) We're all deeply saddened by this news, but we're rallying to show our love and support for the little guy.
The Campbell Family. My older sister Kelly and her husband Chris have been so lucky to have one another and two beautiful munchkins, Madisyn, 9, and Brayden, 3, and the entire family has been blessed in watching their incredible little family grow and grow. WATCH THE FAMILY VIDEO!
- In July of 2018, two weeks before his 3rd Birthday, Brayden was brought to the ER for an ear infection and a bloody nose, when doctors discovered a large tumor near his brain and optic nerve.
-Because of its proximity to vital organs, surgery wasn't possible and he began chemotherapy, which leaves him with a lot of muscle and joint pain, emotional distress, exhaustion, diarrhea, dry/cracking lips and skin, and his right eye has lost full vision. We're hoping it will be able to come back, as the tumor shrinks.
-Every week, my sister spends her days (M-F) bringing him to routine chemo and radiation rounds, doctor's appointments, and check-ups to make sure he is responding well to his treatments.
-Brayden completed 7 weeks of M-F radiation at Mass General Hospital in November 2018.
-We are hoping he'll complete his first round of chemo in March/April 2019.
-He will then do another round of 6 months preventative chemo treatment to stop recurrence.
Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, and our family superhero is BRAVEDEN! He's 25 lbs and fighting everyday to get better. It's difficult to find the words to make it all better. He's such a tiny little person going through such a monumental feat. By protecting him with love and care, we know he'll get strong again!

I want to share an update on my family. For those of you who don't know, my sweet little 3-year-old nephew Brayden "Braveden" Campbell has been battling baby cancer for almost a year now. While it's shattered our hearts into pieces, my family has been awe-inspired by the strength inside this itty bitty human, what he's able to go through, and his unending determination to laugh, play, and live fully....despite his circumstances.
We are so humbled by the love and kindness of so many of our friends, family, colleagues, and communities. My sister and brother-in-law are eternally grateful for the support and generosity of all of you. Your grace has given us hope, helped us to find meaning in suffering, and also to build a promising tomorrow for a little boy who has experienced more than what most endure in a lifetime.
He still has a long road to go, including 5 more months of chemotherapy, two surgeries to remove scar tissue from the tumor and maybe even tubes in his ears. Your continued thoughts and kindness mean more than you'll ever know.
Thank you so, so much!
We love you, Braveden <3
