Brandon's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
To all family, friends and community:
On Saturday, April 29th, Brandon was struck by a car while on his motorcycle, the exact details of the crash are still unknown. Brandon had emergency surgery where doctors worked to stop internal bleeding, removed his spleen, repaired a hole in his stomach and treated a collapsed lung. He has several broken ribs, broken bones in his back, and a broken arm. Fortunately, his head was found to be unharmed -- Brandon always wore his helmet.
At this time Brandon has come out of his second surgery where they were able to close up his abdomen as the internal bleeding has stopped. His wife, Annie and their families are waiting for him to get an MRI to determine what damage has been done to his spine and back. Several more surgeries are to come, but currently, Brandon is only receiving "life saving" treatments. A lot is up in the air for Brandon at this time, but what is certain is that Brandon and his family need our support as he faces a long road to recovery.
A big thank you for any financial support you can provide.
Sincerely,
Annie (Fehr) McGinnis & Brandon McGinnis
This GoFundMe was created by the leadership of The Urban Farm, on behalf and in support of Annie, an all-star staff member, educator, friend, and wife of her new, and loving husband Brandon.
UPDATE MAY 2, 2023:
Brandon has received the results from the MRI, and they aren't what we hoped. The injury to his back is considered a "complete spinal cord injury", meaning he has permanently lost the use of his legs. Brandon is scheduled for neurosurgery this evening to stabilize his spine.
With this new information, we are increasing the goal to 50K. This horrible accident has changed Annie and Brandon's lives forever-- they are going to need new accommodations and/or modifications to their home, car, and much more for Brandon's future mobility and accessibility needs. Please continue to donate what you can, and share with your network & community.
UPDATE May 9, 2023:
Brandon and Annie have family coming in this week from Iowa and Oregon to start work on their home to remodel it for Brandon's future mobility needs. The house currently has several steep and narrow staircases and almost nothing ADA-friendly about it. But luckily, this family is VERY HANDY. Let's help Annie and Brandon get these much-needed renovations done, the new goal is 75k!
