Brandon's Summer Internship
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brandon Hull and I am currently a sophomore at Pitzer College in Claremont California and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biology. I was recently accepted to participant in the Atlantis Project Fellowship program this coming summer. The Atlantis Project is a challenging medical shadowing program that allows undergraduate pre-medical students to witness the practice of medicine first-hand in a global setting. The reason I applied to the Atlantis Project is because of my strong passion for health care and medicine. This past year I have been an intern with a local Orthopedic Surgeon who has been mentoring me which helped spark my interest for this Project. I truly believe my purpose in life is to use the knowledge and experience I learn to help people around the world. My career goal is to start a non-profit organization that reaches around the globe and provides healthcare to developing countries that lack sufficient medical support.
The program consists of spending 20+ hours per week in a local hospital shadowing various doctors in their different fields. Outside of the hospital students are taken on excursions, which may include hiking, beach trips, attending local festivals, visiting other historical sites and national parks, and more. Student fellows may also plan personal travel trips on weekends to experience traditional cuisine, immerse in the culture and history, and explore the breath-taking natural beauty of the country. I would be spending 5 week, starting June 17, on Faial Island in Portugal. Faial Island is part of the Azores central group, which is a set of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. This opportunity would not only be my first adventure outside of North America, but my first big step towards my career goal.

There is a program fee that covers daily transportation, housing, health issuance (throughHTH-Worldwide), a cell phone (for in country communication), Wi-Fi, and meals. I plan to create a daily blog, which would allow you to follow me on my summer adventure. I will be recapping activities, new experiences, and posting tons of awesome pictures! The Atlantis program is a serious investment, but I plan to make it worth every dollar.
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact me.
