Our rivers carry stories – of life, movement, and the deep connection between people and nature. But as the climate changes, so do our waters. Flow patterns shift, glaciers melt, and what was once taken for granted begins to slip through our fingers.
Research clearly shows how climate change is affecting our river systems. Snowpacks are shrinking, melt seasons are shifting, and extreme rainfall alternates with prolonged droughts. In this new reality, we risk losing one of our most valuable natural treasures – clean, free-flowing water.
Born of Ice is a short documentary film in which we follow a journey along some of the rivers in Scandinavia that are being affected by climate change. Through whitewater kayaking and scenes in beautiful and wild environments, we aim to show how our rivers are changing while also inspiring action to protect them. The film will combine kayaking scenes in Class 4–5 rapids with stories about how climate change is impacting water flows, landscapes, and ecosystems. The idea is for the film to both inform and inspire emotional connection to the rivers we love.
This is a passion-driven project, built on the hope of creating real change. At the same time, producing a film that matches this ambition requires substantial funding, which is why we need financial support to make it possible. We truly hope you’ll feel proud to support this project.
Because if you do, we promise to create a film you’ll want to share – and talk about – with pride.
