BLOC is an organization that has traditionally served to bring together men of color and their allies to a space that does not exist elsewhere on campus. In this space, members are able to share their feelings and thoughts on issues that concern them. Besides being an academic and social support system for its members, BLOC extends its support to the Claremont College’s community, as well as the greater Pomona, CA community. As an organization, we have chosen to be active in the education and prevention of sexual violence on campus. We take pride in providing a regular social event that brings aspects of member's home lives to Claremont. We use this space to not only share hip-hop culture with Claremont students, but to also promote a safer party culture. For several years, BLOC has partnered with the Pomona Unified School District to provide mentorship to high schoolers through our Young Men's Circle Program. BLOC will continue to address important issues on these campuses for years to come, and we will collaborate with other organizations to make the Claremont Colleges and the surrounding area a more connected community.
