My name is Perry, and I’ve been a homeless entrepreneur and filmmaker since August 12th, 2013. Despite the challenges, I’ve managed to executive produce four feature films—two of which are available on Prime—and I host monthly film networking events to help others in the industry. I went to film school while homeless and graduated, determined to keep moving forward no matter what. My journey has been anything but easy. For years, I lived in a camp in the woods, attending school and finding creative ways to survive. When I needed money, I’d sit quietly outside a local grocery store, charging my phone and hoping for a little kindness from strangers. Their generosity—food, a few dollars—helped me get by week to week.

In August 2024, a bear attacked my camp, forcing me to move into a friend’s garage. I’m currently working on his feature film, The Great Detectives, a project I’m passionate about. I rarely ask for help, preferring to find ways to earn what I need, but sometimes the projects I work on don’t pay right away, or I volunteer my time because I want to see others succeed. Even when things are tough, I try to avoid “flying a sign” (asking for help on the street), because I know how to make money—I just need a little support to keep going.

Right now, I need help to keep my phone on, pay for my Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, and cover the software costs to finish The Great Detectives—a hybrid animation and live-action film inspired by Dick Tracy, with CGI and comic book-style transitions. Your support will also help me provide food for myself and my pets (dog and cat food, cat litter), so I can focus on my creative work and caring for my fur babies without feeling guilty or distracted by basic needs.
