Carlos' Recovery Fund

Donation protected

On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016, my brother Carlos Salazar, a.k.a. "Rubencito", suffered a tear to a brain artery which caused an embolic stroke and he was rushed to the hospital. That night Carlos had emergent therapy to dissolve the clot and surgery to decompress his brain because of the swelling. Thankfully, the therapy and surgery were a success and the road to recovery has begun. Despite this, there are many mountains he must climb as he recovers. Due to the stroke, the left side of his face is paralyzed and he has a difficult time swallowing food. His gait, or ability to walk and balance, are affected. It is unclear how long it will take him to recover, and how much of his baseline function he will regain with time.

We are praying that he will make a quick recovery but the truth is that the road ahead may be long, uncertain, and difficult for him. He will no doubt require enduring support from friends and family. Many have asked how they can help him through this time. Carlos is a self-employed musician, teacher, and vital component of our family musical trio, "Los Salazar". As stated, he has functional neurological deficits which are so elemental to him, such as speaking, ambulating, and coordinating, which affect his ability to work and provide an income for him and his wife, Yesika.

Therefore, the best way to help Carlos now is through financial assistance of any kind and quantity. All funds donated will be applied to his medical expenses, rehabilitation and physical therapy, medications, and living expenses.

Our family thanks you in advance for your kind thoughts, considerations, and donations. Most importantly, we thank you for your humble petitions, requests, and prayers before the Great Healer on Carlos' behalf. Though it is unfortunate from human eyes, we trust fully in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in that He is in control of this situation, with great plans for Carlos. May we trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and lean not unto our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).
