Hardship to Hustle: Veteran, Student, Future Entrepreneur!

Hi, I’m Tyler B. Mosley — a proud Black, gay U.S. Army veteran, full-time college student, and soon-to-be small business owner. I’m asking for help after a series of devastating setbacks that have now left me without power, without a car, and barely hanging on.
Last fall, Hurricane Helene devastated the Greater Augusta Area. I was out of work for a month and then laid off just two weeks after returning. Since then, it’s been one thing after another:
My vehicle was repossessed
My unemployment benefits were delayed and misrouted to a closed account — I didn’t receive them until January
I’ve been denied public assistance despite applying multiple times — and I truly believe being a single male without dependents has worked against me
And now, I’ve reached a breaking point:
I am officially without power.
For the past week, I’ve been running a borrowed generator to survive. It costs me about $60 a day in fuel, and I’m refueling it 2–3 times a day. It’s unsustainable and dangerous in the long term.
My utilities are cut, I’m behind on rent, and I’ve had to take care of home repairs myself — even though I rent — because I’ve lived here for 6 years and may have the opportunity to purchase the home in the future.
I started this campaign to pay a power bill, but the truth is, I need a full restart. I’m seeking $25,000 to:
Pay off Georgia Power and Augusta Utilities
Catch up on rent
Replace my vehicle
Continue maintaining my home
Register BuddiBear LLC and build my website and store
Launch my first clothing line by late August or early October
I’m doing everything I can to stay in school and on track with my Post-9/11 GI Bill. Once I’m stable, those benefits will help carry me month to month. But I can’t get there alone.
Please consider donating, sharing, or connecting me with someone who might help. Every dollar brings me closer to light, stability, and a fresh start.
