Billy Carwyle was born with Cerebral Palsy and has been constrained to a wheelchair his entire life. He is without the use of his legs, and has limited motor skills with his arms and hands. Billy grew up in Greenville, IN, but moved to an assisted living facility run by volunteers soon after high school as his parents didn't have the means to care for him. Billy moved to the Easy K Ranch in Sage, AR where a volunteer staff assists people with similar conditions. While the facility does provide Billy with essential assistance and simple comforts like fishing and helping feed the ranch's animals, his mobility and well-being are largely dependent on his electric wheelchair. His current chair is currently out-dated and falling apart. He is in dire need of a new chair that can handle the unpaved terrain of the facility, and perform consistently so that he remains safe. For someone with his condition, being independent is something Billy prides himself on, but is only able to achieve in a limited fashion. Thus, his ability to be mobile is crucial for his overall health and well-being. His current chair limits his ability to be independent as it is constantly stuck or powering down and leaving him stranded. With these problems, he's further limited in the freedom he has. After reviewing Arkansas' state guidelines, the state will only allow Billy to get another chair similar to his current model, and they will only pay for 50% of it. He deserves so much better. To help one of the most positive, and happy spirits that I know, I'm turning to the GoFundMe community to ask for help in raising money to buy a chair that will work on unpaved surfaces and provide him with the sense of self-worth that comes with having your mobility. If the money can be raised, we'd like to purchase a Viking power chair for him to use this Spring. Please message me privately if you'd like to see if there are other ways in which you can help Billy, or the Easy K Ranch. His personal story is extremely troubled, and his resilience and positive attitude in life are second to none. We love him very much and will be elated to have your help in this endeavor. Thank you all for reading.
