Many of us have had it happen. And it's not usually good. You make the phone call. They answer. "I need your help." And they NEVER say no.

Well, today is the day. They can use YOUR help.

Many of you are aware that Big Jon Townsend began his battle with cancer in April 2013 after a routine colonoscopy. Almost a year later, that battle continues against a very rare and aggressive type of colon cancer.

The first part of January, Jon entered a trial chemo-program at the James Cancer Center. Shortly after that, he suffered a perforation to his colon and a second wide-spread infection. This resulted in a second surgery to resection his colon and a two-week hospitalization. He is currently at home with an expected recovery time of 6-8 weeks. He then hopes to re-enter the trial program. He would like to return to full-time work in about 10 weeks.

Jon had been working and he and Robin have been able to hold it together financially, however the family suffered several additional blows in January.  Two weeks in the hospital brought some unexpected expenses.  Starting with his first hospitalization, Jon has repeatedly been informed that the medical insurance provided by his business would be terminated. He was notified that this is actually happening effective 01/31/2014. Changes to his driver compensation package, as well as his current inability to work, have and will result in a significant loss to his personal income.

I know they've tried not to ask for help. They are certainly aware that there are many people dealing with difficult times.  Many people have asked what they can do to help and finally, with their approval, I am asking for YOUR help.  (At this time, they ask that this be the ONLY approved request for donations.)

Based on what they have done for other people, I know that their TRUE friends would not want this family to suffer needlessly, nor would they want any bit of precious time to be wasted with worry.

If you are in the position to help, please do so. I'm not sure how much financial assistance they'll actually need, but this is a place to start. Please know that any bit will help.

And continue to pray for peace and health for this family that means so much to so many people.

Please feel free to send card, letters, or donations directly to Jon and Robin Townsend, 2370 Morral Kirkpatrick Road West, Morral, OH 43337.
