I have always been grateful to have grown up in a small town like Ottawa. The “everybody knows your name” feeling, the sense of community and the genuine willingness to lend a hand. I know many of you that have given me a hand up or a word of encouragement when I needed it.
I am writing this tonight, hoping you might be able to lend a hand to our friend, Bev Robbins.
As you may know, Bev has battled through a couple of very serious cancers, has had a hip replacement (2) and has a few other medical issues. She has fought like a champion and has a super positive attitude. She has family close by, a new grandbaby in town, 2 in lawrence and 3 in Arizona. Nothing like family to keep you motivated to stay well.
so how can we help?
Bev has a 2002 minivan that has seen better days. The air conditioning went out this summer, and Bev has said she doesn’t feel comfortable taking it very far as it isn’t very dependable.
So here’s my thoughts:
If we could raise some funds, we could either repair her van or purchase a good used car that will help Bev get to her Dr. Appts and to see those grandkids, at least the ones in Lawrence. Maybe someone has a car to sell?
If you would rather send a check to an address, we maintained a bank account in our friend, Mike Skidmore’s bank.
Send to: GSSB, PO Box 900 Ottawa, Ks. 66067
Make checks payable to “class of 74”
please feel free to share this with other Ottawa classmates. Any amount will be so appreciated.
WAIT! I forgot to tell you! We are going to try and keep this a SECRET!!
Thank you for your love and support,
Maribeth Ogg Brennaman
