Everyone meet our sweet 6 month old puppy - Betty!
Betty was rescued from Lancaster shelter along with her 8 brothers and sisters. Soon afterwards, Betty found her perfect family with Paige Kimsey & Dan Dowding!
At one of her check ups, the doctor noticed Betty has a heart murmur, that she was born with. We proceeded to find out more about her condition, so we went ahead with an echocardiogram. It revealed she has Pulmonic Stenosis. This means that the pulmonary valve in her heart, that is supposed to open and close, doesn't fully open, and is more dome-shaped. The degree of this was noted as moderate, but would most likely get worse as she gets older.
What does this mean? It means that the right side of her heart is working harder to get blood to the left side -- because the valve does not open all the way. The cardiologist recommended a simple yet effective procedure to open the valve, called a Balloon Angioplasty. This is where they put a balloon in the valve, and expand the balloon to the point where the valve would separate and be large enough for the blood to pass at the right capacity. This is commonly done in humans, and has a high success rate!
Betty's surgery is imperative for her to have a happy and healthy life for the next decade. We are truly blessed to have this sweet girl on our lives, and, if you could find it in your hearts to donate, this would mean the world to us.
