**STRETCH GOALS
This site, although wonderful, does take fees from every payment, so when all is done I am about £70 short from fully covering the wheelchair. I also need to purchase add-ons for the wheelchair such as bags and reflectors to stay safe
**MY STORY
Most of you reading this will know me. But even if you do, you might not know what my life has been like for the last few years. You might know me as someone who did anything and everything, who volunteered for everything, was on every committee and can't say no. This all ended in my first year of university when my existing wrist injuries developed into constant widespread pain and debilitating fatigue. Over the next few years, I was diagnosed with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, alongside PTSD, anxiety and depression.
I'm at Exeter University, in the fourth year of my Politics degree, which I'm having to take part time. I've not been able to attend any classes in 2018 because of how poorly I have been and how hard walking is. I haven't been able to get out to hospital appointments or to run errands without a taxi door to door and someone with me. I used a rollator which helped but still exhausted me and since January I have been mostly housebound, with trips out only possible weekly, and longer trips meant borrowing or hiring a manual wheelchair. I'm at the stage now where a wheelchair is really necessary for outside of my flat. NHS wheelchair services are heavily restricted and I have only been able to pay for this chair by borrowing money. If I cannot fundraise the cost of the wheelchair, I will be unable to pay my rent come September. Please support me to retain my freedom and not be in debt and overdrawn due to the huge cost of this chair.
**Why this wheelchair?
I really need a wheelchair that will fold to fit in cars so I can travel to visit family. I mostly live in Exeter which is packed full of hills and cobbles so I need this chair with 250w motors, huge back wheels and full suspension to be able to safely get around. I've had home demos to explore different chairs and test it on the terrain near my flat and this chair was by far the best at coping with the hills and gravel. The wheelchairs which fit my requirements are between £2000 and £3000. Originally, I was hoping to fundraise this amount and then buy the chair. However, I found a second hand, barely used chair which I managed to buy this £2300 chair for just £1700.
**Other ways to donate: If you would like to donate and also receive some of my fibre art, please look at my Etsy page. I have it set up so you can pay the regular rate, or include a donation. Every purchase really helps. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/marantamacrame
If you would like to donate in cash, bank transfer, PayPal, cheque etc just get in touch. Thank you!
