Bentley’s Veterinary bill

Bentley is a 6 year old long haired dachshund. He is just so sweet and happy all the time. He never turns down a chance to play fetch and will never quit when you start.

 

Bentley has liver issues that have had him throwing up for 4 days and slowly stopped eating. He got into the vet first thing on Monday morning and she ordered an X-ray and blood work all the while receiving lots of fluids and an antibiotic dose. The X-ray came back normal, but the blood work came back to be likely Leptospirosis.

 

Leptospirosis in dogs is a bacterial infection that spreads through the bloodstream. Dogs can get leptospirosis from puddles or bodies of water that carry urine from infected wildlife. The bacteria infiltrate a dog's body by burrowing into their skin. Canine leptospirosis can be a serious, life-threatening disease.

 

As of Monday 10/18 night, he was able to come home to stay comfortably. Tuesday 10/19, they want him back to for one, take the iv catheter out. Secondly, they are leaning on hospitalizing him again for another round of fluid treatment and blood work. Tyson and I are wanting to hold off on completely new panel so we can work with the medications he was sent home with so far.

 

I’ve told a few of you the first vet bill and are anticipating at least one more visit with a bill. Any little bit helps with this unexpected illness my Benny is facing and we’d be eternally grateful. I’ll update here as often as possible.
