Becca is going back to Peru!
God has been working on my heart for a couple of years to be involved in missions. Last year He opened the door for me to go on a short-term mission trip to Trujillo, Peru with Windsor Road Christian Church. I was thrilled to go! Then a month before the trip my beautiful Mama, who I was very close to, poured my heart out to weekly, and was still very dependent on for medical, motherly and life wisdom, passed away very unexpectedly. I spent the last 3 weeks of her life caring for her and easing her transition. Then, as planned, I went to Peru. I believe, through all this, that God was preparing me for so much more than a tiny orphanage in Peru, and while I was there, raw, bruised, exhausted, but open to everything He wanted to show me, He placed a dream in my heart. The dream involves working with women in transition, locally and in Peru, who desire a life with choices.
I have been given the opportunity to return to Trujillo, where I will meet new children, solidify relationships formed last year, and learn more about the home for girls who age out of an orphanage at age 18, but who most likely are far from a high school education.
The trip will be from July 11-22, 2016. We will be working with an orphanage that WRCC is closely affiliated with, Hogar de Esperanza. We will be sharing in some outreach activities that involve the young children living there. You can visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hogar-de-Esperanza-Peru/162302470478578
We also plan to spend time with another orphanage for girls, Nuevos Pasos, and the transitional home, Luz de Vida. Currently being discussed, but most likely will be added to the itinerary, is the garbage dump. We visited there last year. It's a hard place to see, but there is a community of people, and children, living in this literal garbage dump. They have nothing but the scraps recycled to build a shelter, and a little livestock to raise enough money to survive. One of those children has the opportunity to attend college... and have more choices in her life. When we visit, we will decide as a group if we would like to sponsor a year of her tuition, about $120 per person (there are 10 of us going). Knowing the hearts of our group, I'm 99% sure that decision has already been made, so I'm adding it here, so you all know that your support is not only enriching my life, the orphans who treasure our visits, but also one little girl who has a chance to break the cycle of poverty. You can follow the ministry working there through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Elim-garbage-dump-ministry-1375771969332958/
Your partnership is needed! This is a team project, and you are an asset to the team. First, we appreciate your prayers for the spiritual battles ahead. Second, your financial help is a huge support in relieving the burden of travel costs.
The total cost is $2,500 to cover all trip expenses. Be assured that ALL funds raised for this mission will be used for the trip and any donations above and beyond will be used for the children. Please consider investing whatever God leads you to give. In order to secure a group airline rate, we are striving to have $500 at the end of each month, now until July.
If you would like to join us in this amazing missions adventure and join us in ministering to these orphans, please make your donation here online, or you can send me a check payable to “Windsor Road Christian Church” and I will send you a receipt from WRCC for any tax-deductible donations that you make.
At any time I can answer any questions you may have about the trip. Please don't hesitate to contact me!
I am beyond delighted to be returning to Peru and learning more about the Lord's vision on my heart. I can't wait to see the kids I know, and meet the many, many new additions. Most of the kids know that they won't be adopted, but they are anxious about their future (they "age out" at 18), and it is joyfully reassuring to them to know there is someone out there who loves them, and a God they can trust. Being the relationship girl that I am, this is a perfect opportunity for me and I'm so very thankful that you are praying about being a part of our team!
