Our dear Becca is a sister, partner, cherished friend, artist, and a bright light in all of our lives. We are asking for your support as she navigates Stage 4 Neuroendocrine Cancer.

After being misdiagnosed for years, last winter, a biopsy revealed that she has Stage 4 cancer of the colon, liver, lymph nodes, and spine. This diagnosis also includes Carcinoid Syndrome, a potentially fatal condition that, when left uncontrolled, causes a mass release of hormones, triggering flushing, high heart rate, difficulty breathing, and cardiac events or damage. A carcinoid crisis can be triggered by eating specific foods, physical activity (like walking up stairs), and even stress. While this cancer is slow-moving for some, her case is particularly difficult because her liver has "innumerable tumors" and because of how far it has spread. Current treatment options are limited.

After extensive research, Becca and her partner plan to move to Europe this winter. Europe has many European Neuroendocrine Centers of Excellence (ENETS), which offer advanced care and treatment options for Neuroendocrine Cancer, which is more difficult to access here in the U.S.

Becca's doctor recommended that she stop working in March to focus on caring for herself, but due to financial pressures, she continued working until July. At this time, she and her partner are in immediate need of financial support to cover basic expenses until her disability benefits come through in late October. Beyond that, additional financial support will help them with their move to Europe, medications, copays, and other treatment-related expenses.
