Bean's Vet Care

Bean is almost 3 years old. I've had him ever since he was just 9 weeks old, a tiny, playful kitten who immediately stole my heart. From that very first night, he's slept curled up by my side, every single night, bringing so much comfort and joy into my life. He's not just a pet; he's my best friend. Every purr, every playful pounce, every quiet moment shared has been a treasure.
Everyday he'd greet me at my door, and I'm scared that I'll never get to experience that again.

Just a few days ago, on Thursday morning, everything changed. Bean started acting very unlike himself. He was lethargic, sleeping far more than usual, and was unusually quiet. He'd approach his food bowl, urge at it as if he wanted to eat, but then turn away, barely taking a bite. My happy, energetic boy was disappearing before my eyes.

Over the next two days, his condition worsened rapidly. He developed a nasty, blocked nose, making it clear he couldn't smell his food – a huge problem for cats. He started sneezing, had tearing eyes, and even some strange dribbling. We noticed he felt warm, suggesting a fever, and his breathing sounded congested. It was agonizing to see him so unwell, completely refusing all food and water, even his favorite treats. My heart was breaking, watching him suffer.

Today, we rushed him to the Pet Hospital, desperate for answers. The news was devastating. The vet confirmed he has a severe upper respiratory infection, which is making him incredibly unwell, but also discovered something more alarming: there's significant pressure behind his right eye. This is a serious issue that could be caused by a painful abscess or severe inflammation behind his eye, explaining much of his distress and refusal to eat.

I was given three difficult options: try antibiotics at home (which was risky given he wasn't eating), put him down, or admit him for intensive, life-saving care. The choice was agonizing, but there was no doubt in my mind. Bean is my world, and I had to fight for him. I chose for him to stay at the vets, where he will receive IV fluids, strong pain medication, extensive diagnostics to pinpoint the cause of the eye pressure, and targeted treatment.

However, this critical care comes with an overwhelming cost. We've been given an estimate that could reach £2000, possibly more. This is a sum that, as much as I love him, I simply don't have available right now.
I am humbly asking for any help you can offer. Every single pound will go directly towards Bean's vet bills, giving him the chance he deserves to overcome this severe illness and come back home to his bed beside me. If you can't donate, please consider sharing Bean's story.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and for any support you can provide during Bean's care.

With hope,
Jayden and Bean
