Hi everyone,

My name is Asja, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping me walk and swim again both in a pool and at the beach. Many of you know that swimming is truly one of my favorite things to do. Whether I’m talking to God, doing my laps, or playing games with my family in the water, it’s always been my happy place and I’m ready to get back to it.

I’m also preparing for one of the most meaningful moments of my life: standing beside my best friend, La’India, as a bridesmaid at her wedding this November on the beaches of Jamaica.

La’India and I have been inseparable since our freshman year at Western Illinois University in 2014. She’s been my rock, and I’m beyond honored to celebrate this new chapter in her life. But to walk confidently on the beach and fully participate in this special day, I need a waterproof prosthetic leg.

Traditional prosthetics aren’t designed for sand, water, or tropical climates. The one I need is built for active use across all terrains—but it comes at a cost of $5,000, which covers the prosthetic itself as well as the travel and fitting expenses needed to ensure I’m ready in time.

As a woman of faith, I believe deeply in the power of community and grace. I hold close to Isaiah 40:31:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
