BassNuT Art Car

The Ask:   With your help, BassNuT  will be BACK on the Playa with some serious upgrades to keep that bass bumpin' and your booties bouncin'!

The NuTz  Camp's beloved mutant squirrel art car  - the BassNuT -  is in need of some upgrades, repairs and overall love to get her back to the Playa.   We are raising funds needed for major upgrades and repairs which include - a programmable interactive light system inside the bongos, enhanced flame effects, new  squirrel head modifications, stabilizing the seating and DJ area, fabric and fur overhaul, metal framework and general repairs. After it's all said and done, she's going to look & drive amazing!

The BassNuT Story:

The art car became reality in the summer of 2015, by creative engineers and fabricators, Todd Ga, Les Karpas and Corey Smith.  Their love of music, art, and the Burning Man community made this gift idea a reality - and the BassNuT was born.   With the help of NuTz Camp and friends, the team constructed the car in a record two months for her virgin trip to Burning Man (pictured below).  The BassNuT's maiden voyage to the Playa in 2015  was a huge success, running alongside the Playa’s best such as Breakbeats in Bed, SS NuTz, and the Dusty Rhino.   

The Technical Stuff:

The BassNuT squirrel frame is built on a Ford F250 chassis. The arms, head and tail are comprised of wood framed light boxes and 8’ steel poles covered in decorative light reflective fabric and fur that when lit up shines brightly in the playanight. Moveable arm parts allow an operator to shift the arms up and down as if the squirrel is actually playing the bongos! Our newest edition to the car is a flame effect, shown in the video and pictured below and shoots a 2’ flame 14’ above the squirrel’s head into the air. The BassNuT's seating area positioned over the wheel wells, can fit up to 30 and the car boasts a 10,000 watt sound system complete with decks for our dj's to make it a bass bangin' mobile sound party.

The Funds:

The funds we raise from this campaign will go towards:

* Reprogramming and setting up a high tech lighting system on the tail, arms, head, body and also include interactive lights in the bongos;
* Upgrade the fire effect including switch and panel controls;
* Metal, welding, general fabric and fur.beautification, and other minor repairs;
* Stabilizing the seating and comfy enhancements to the flatbed area.

Please consider donating any amount, $25, $50, $100 or more and help us reach this goal....no donation is too small!  We need the funds by the end of July, so that we have enough time to complete the upgrades before she leaves on August 25th.

As a thank you,  beginning July 5th, we'll have a weekly drawing from our donor list.   Up for gifting BassNuT and/or NuTz Camp swag!  At the end of the campaign - one "Pimp Playa Patron" (PPP) name will be drawn to receive one Thank You Cruise at the Burn, complete with personal DJ.  If you're not going to the Burn -  no worries - you can gift it to someone who is!

We cannot wait to complete the work and bring BassNuT to the Playa for everyone to enjoy!
