My name is Fred Lee. I'm a retired music educator in San Diego, California, and am proud to be the Camp Director of Band at the Beach for the past 3 years.

Band at the Beach puts on a 1-week band camp for students in grades 6-12 at a public school site every summer. The 2026 camp will be held at Pacific Beach Middle School July 13-17 from 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

Our goal is to provide a high-quality music education and performance experience for band students from across San Diego County. Multiple local conductors, fabulous guest artists (Westwind Brass), section coaches for all instruments, along with challenging literature and a nurturing environment make this music camp unique and welcoming to students from diverse backgrounds. The camp culminates with a FREE community concert on Friday, July 17 at 3:00 PM!

Band at the Beach has been around for more than 35 years, making it the longest-running band camp in San Diego! With your donations, we can keep Band at the Beach going for years to come and provide SCHOLARSHIP money to help those with financial need. All-inclusive tuition is only $450 per student, and includes lunch and snacks!
