Ben and Carrissa's Adoption Fund

Hello there! Life is been one big adventure for my husband and I. Thank you for considering helping us continue the next step in our story. Many people consider the beginning of our life together to be interesting and unusual. My husband Ben is from England and I live in Kentucky.  After meeting online we traveled together, fell in love, and were married 12 years ago.

Ben works as a receiving specialist in a book company. He is about to complete his goal of a degree in Computer Science. He hopes to use his degree and expand his career with his current employer. I have my Masters in Social Work and currently work as an Independent Living Specialist at a Disability Resource Center. We have two fur babies and love hanging out with our nieces and nephews.

We are no strangers to making dreams come true. Our dream of having children has been a long process. Some of our earliest conversations were about children and how we’ve always wanted to have a family. So it was the next obvious step not long after we were married to begin trying. We were content for a couple years just letting whatever was meant to happen be, before beginning doctor’s appointments, hormone treatments, medications and years of disappointment. But if there’s one thing we learned together is that there is more than one path to achieve your goals.

After much thought and prayer and consideration, in September 2014 we decided to start the adoption process. We’ve worked with Catholic Charities. We decided to consider semi open adoption so that our child would know where they came from. We believe a child can never have too much love. Our home study was complete March 31, 2015! (Our caseworker was sincerely surprised on how quickly we got things together to complete the homestudy.) If you want something bad enough however let nothing get in your way. Now we’re just waiting to be chosen by birth parents and praying for a call.  At the time parental rights are signed over, we will owe $6000 to the agency. That doesn’t include travel and expenses of the adoption itself. While it still seems like a drop in the bucket compared to some other adoptions, any help would be greatly appreciated. It takes a village to raise a child. I believe that statement couldn’t be truer. Thank you for being a small part of that village.
