Bam!Bam!'s Battle Against Kidney Failure

Donation protected
On 3/19 Bam!Bam! (7) was found hiding away in an unusual place for him to be. After refusing to eat, drink water or use his litter boxes, he was immediately rushed to the ER. The veterinarian informed my mom & I that he was experiencing critical levels for his vitals. We were shocked (and devastated to say the least) being informed that his kidneys are infected and could fail if treatments aren't started immediately.

Bam! is currently in critical condition, recovering from sedation & being heavily monitored. He was given an IV to boost his electrolites, medicine to stabilize his abnormally high potassium level and he's on insulin to regulate his blood sugar. He is on a catheder which will hopefully allow him to pass the blockages in his kidneys easier and he is scheduled for a feeding tube due to his significant weight loss (5lbs.)

I've always promised Bam!Bam! that Momma will do anything to take care of him and keep him safe. When we were given the option of euthaniziation or immediate treatment (without pet insurance) my heart sunk. Euthanizing was not an option if there's a CHANCE he can fight through this. I signed the papers agreeing to half of the down-payment, lasting us until the end of the weekend. I had to save my baby.

It's been 28-hours since he was admitted and he's starting to show slight improvements from the treatments. He is alert, starting to attempt to eat, and fighting the nurses through his treatments (no surprise there since he doesn't like to be held) but this is GOOD because it shows strength! His potassium levels have reached a stable condition, and his electrolites are rising allowing him to start producing urine to pass. I believe this means his kidneys are trying! When Bam! arrived, his kidney values (1.8 being normal) were 18, now they are slowly lowering to 15. Unfortunately, I was just informed he is developing a small heart murmur which is not surprising given his stress and conditions, but it is being monitored for his safety. The doctor said "He is ....okay."

The vet informed us early on that he is on a very long road to recovery. Bam!Bam!'s medical expenses will undoubtedly continue to rise following this weekend. This being said, the original goal will also rise as his healing journey proceeds. I hate asking for help, but after stressing my financial concerns to my close peers, several have advised I take action through GoFundMe. I feel I have no other choice but to reach out for Bam!'s sake. I am currently looking into pet insurance, but it has been difficult given his existing conditions.

Every donation is appreciated, no matter how small. If you cannot make a donation, we appreciate your positve thoughts, prayers and well wishes as we manifest his strength to push through his treatments.

Please help us bring our baby home!
