Adam Black is a 17 year old Bakersfield, CA senior.  He was looking forward to starting his senior year at Centennial High School.  An active member of drama club he was was nominated for best male performance as a sophomore in the Wizard of OZ.  He wants to pursue acting after high school. Tragically, Adam lost his mom 2 years ago and his dad Doug Black is a single father to Adam and his 2 other siblings. 

 Last month Adam tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms. He was taking every precaution imaginable as his brother has autoimmune disease, but Adam’s body went into overdrive when he came down with the virus. He was positive for COVID but then negative after 14 days and on the 14th day he took a turn for a worse. He noticed an enlarged lymph node and developed and fever and his BP plummeted, causing him to pass out in the ER.  Unable to maintain his blood pressure he was sent to Madera Children’s hospital.

Adam’s immune system started to develop so many “soldiers” aka antibodies that they started fighting so much, they started attacking his healthy tissue...specifically his heart.   The inflammation around his heart has been his biggestbattle yet.

Doug (Adam’s father) is staying in Madera to be with his son.  He is escorted in and out of the hospital room and stays at a hotel nearby, withcosts accumulating daily.  With little contact with the outside world, Doug has been unable tocoach soccer for Albion Club soccer and is a dedicated coach for both the club soccer world and Centennial High School Soccer in Bakersfield. 

Please help this dedicated member of our community so he can care for his son, his other children and himself.  Hotel is roughly $100  per night, plus all other costs associated with living out of a suitcase. Once Adam returns, we all know the bills won’t stop there.
