Bailey's Battle 2.0!

"They ride tricycles in the hallway, not in the park. They know the names of their Chemo instead of their classmates. Nurses and Doctors are their new family. Their laughter will make a heart melt. Their strength will make a grown person cry. If you've ever seen a kid fight cancer, it will change your life forever."

Seeing a child battle cancer is heartbreaking. Seeing a child fight for their life after being diagnosed a second time, is almost unbearable.

Bailey was first diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor in 2012 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, when he was just 5 years old. The tumor was removed, and he underwent 31 radiation treatments, and months of chemo.

He was stronger, and more brave than any child should ever have to be. And it seemed Bailey had beaten cancer, until an MRI scan in November of 2014 showed the cancer cells had returned.

Ever the Superhero, Bailey assured his mom -Stefanie, Dad- Andy, and Sister- Shelby, that once again "he's got this!"

This is Battle 2.0, and Bailey is determined he will win again!

Chemo started immediately, but after months of treatment, his MRI scan showed no improvement, so Bailey's Doctors at Bronson decided to stop treatment and attempt to come up with another plan of action.

As of December 2015, it was discovered the cancer cells have spread to Bailey's spine, and several small tumors are now present in different areas of his brain. As a result, Bailey began having seizures. Doctors at Bronson consulted with specialists at Mayo Clinic, the University of Michigan, St. Jude, and others, and began him on anti-seizure medication, as well as a daily oral Chemo pill he's able to take at home. In addition to the oral Chemo, Bailey goes to the hospital every week for lab work and observation, every two weeks to receive IV chemo, as well as every 6 weeks  for an overnight spine injection.

Bailey, Stefanie, Andy, and Shelby have remained hopeful, and rely on their faith to see them through. In a time when most people would crumble, they've proven we don't know how strong we are, until strong is the only choice we have.

Stefanie's positivity and selflessness is an inspiration.  She's used this as an opportunity to help others by making gift bags for fellow parents of children battling cancer, collecting books and toys for the kids at Bronson going through Chemo, and creating a box for the siblings of cancer patients to choose a toy from.  Cancer affects everyone, and she wants to show that by standing together, we can kick cancers butt!

Bailey continues to smile, dance, and do his victory push-ups through the pain, and Shelby has maintained straight A's in school. They've learned that you can keep going, long after you think you can't.

No parent should have to see their child suffer. Stefanie and Andy have done everything they can to support Bailey and keep his and Shelby's lives as normal as possible. But due to Bailey's complications, and the continous trips to Kalamazoo, they haven't been able to maintain a steady income. Because of this, we would like to help ease their burden, and raise money to cover their recurring monthly expenses.

The goal is to raise enough to pay their bills for an entire year. The only thing Stefanie and Andy should have to worry about is being by Bailey's side as he fights for his life.

100% of the money raised will go towards paying off their current and future bills. We will work with the utility, phone, insurance, and other companies to estimate the future costs, and pay them in advance so their focus can be on Battle 2.0!

"A Hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." - Christopher Reeve

Hero. That's the word that best describes Bailey Bennett, and his family.

Please help up support the Bennett Family. Let's show them NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!
