Help Bacca get vital surgery

Donation protected
My name is Robin Mayfield. I have a dear friend who is the best dog-momma you could ever want. Her fur-baby, Bacca, (short for Chewbacca) developed a bone infection that isn't healing, and she is going to have to have her front leg amputated.

Jennifer, Bacca's mom, tried everything first. Acupuncture, herbs, antibiotics, anti-fungals, you name it. She's missed a lot of work to take care of Bacca, who is in a lot of pain. She has to be carried outside, and helped to do her business and even eat. The vet believes the surgery will have her back to health, and Bacca will learn to mobilize herself on three legs once she's recuperated.

Please donate to Bacca's surgery! If you are an animal lover, know that what you give now will come back to you when you or your fur-baby needs it.

Jennifer and Bacca are so humble - they didn't ask for this help. I offered to do it, because it's the right thing to do.

Many blessings to all of you.  As you make your donation, please include healing prayers and thoughts. She has a rough road ahead, and she's in good hands to get through it. Let's make sure she can get the best help possible.

And keep this in mind, please. When you make your donation, consider adding 10% more than you intended to cover the percentage that GoFundMe will keep to run this site.

If you need more inspiration; this is the post that Jennifer recently wrote to catch us all up on Bacca's situation. This woman and dog deserve our help and love.

"Friends- please pray for Bacca. After more consultations with specialists, we have had to make a hard decision to amputate Bacca's left front leg . This has been a very hard decision but it is the very best for him to get rid of the pain and to stop the spread of this suspected infection. We are praying and hoping it is not cancer that is hiding. And, if it is, that we get it gone before it metastasizes. I have found an awesome resource in tripawds.com and we are committed to being the best tripawd parents ever. This is one brave dog who I know will adapt and I believe he can beat this. Early on, we saw him run full speed on 3 legs.

I wanted to share a few examples of how wonderful people are - my friends, neighbors and even complete strangers have been to us during this time. I have been so humbled by the generosity and care. Have faith, there is so much good out there.

Neighbors who donated and/or loaned rugs (and even treats and a soft-sided e-collar) to get traction on some our slick floors and the ramp Paul built for our back deck. Some are complete "strangers". One is a retired surgical vet tech and told me to call her anytime. She even came by to meet Bacca. And a friend who gave me a dog pen when we need to keep him contained. A neighbor who offered help with holistic products.

The other day I went in to buy more pain meds at the vet and they told me that I had a credit on my account. I was shocked and asked why. Turns out that one of my coworkers who also goes to that that same vet had been in that day and she put money on my account. Floored!

A friend I haven't seen since high school who is an oncologist vet has been consulting and supporting me the entire time. She has been a rock for me. I'm so grateful.

Bacca got a get well card and a bone, and for us a bottle of wine & cookies dropped off on our doorstep by a friend. Wow!

Another friend cooked me dinner for 2 nights and delivered. Thank you! It was delicious!

A friend who I've leaned on so much as I've weighed my options, regularly visits Bacca and brings me helpful things. She even helped me bathe him at Healthy Pet. You are awesome!

Countless friends who have asked how he is doing. All so supportive. Hugs!

Friends who treat me to dinner to help me get my mind off things, those who listen to me and give me support. I'm so thankful for you!

My loving parents, in-laws and extended family behind us each step. Blessed!

My regular vet who has been so patient and supportive. She has gone above and beyond. The specialist, who has spent so much time talking to me beyond his in-office consult, and his team who have just blown me away. I know Bacca will be in excellent hands with them.

In addition to wonderful Austin Sheltie Rescue members, a couple of ASR friends who have personally talked and emailed with me and been so supportive. Thank you!

So blessed and grateful for the good people out there and that so many of them have crossed my path.

This will be a rough post op but I understand that the pain from this leg is more than what he will deal with post op. We know he's had enough and believe this is best for him.

I don't know when I'll update again, especially if I don't have good news, but I will at some point.

Thank you all and please send your prayers and healing thoughts his way.

Forever grateful.

Jennifer"
