Help My Best Friend Recover From Surgery

Hi, my name is Eric, though many of you know me by my drag name, Sunshine Glitterchild.

In 2019, I adopted my beautiful rescue dog, Baby, a husky-lab mix, and from the moment we met, she became my best friend. As

an entertainer, I spend a lot of time bringing joy to others, but Baby has been the one bringing joy to me, my own little comedy queen, a pure ball of love and fur. She’s been by my side through so much, a huge part of my healing journey, and I’ve become a better person since the day I got her. In that time, I also started drag, found more of who I am, and built a life that I love with Baby always right there beside me.

Now, at seven years old, she’s facing her first big health scare. She recently needed surgery to remove three masses, and while I’ve always done everything I can to care for her such as keeping up with vet visits, vaccinations, and paying into pet insurance, since the day I brought her home there’s still $2,956 that isn’t covered by insurance.

Between slow season hitting hard and some events that I lost money on, I’ve been struggling to keep up with rent, let alone these unexpected vet bills. Asking for help is not something I do easily, but my heart told me to reach out, because I know that some of you may want to help my little family.

Right now, Baby is comfortable, healing from her operation, and on medication to keep her pain-free. The hospital has taken great care of her, and we’re still waiting on test results, hoping the masses were benign. Depending on follow-up care, the final cost could rise by another $1,000, and I’ll keep everyone updated as we go.
