Baby Drew’s brain surgery and recovery
Donation protected
Unfortunately life has thrown us another curveball. On Monday, September 9th I found out my now 10 month old son was going to have to have brain surgery the following day. On Tuesday September 10th we drove back down to Danville for my son to have a craniotomy to remove a very large cyst in the back of his brain which caused his ventricles to enlarge and get backed up which then caused his brain to herniate which led to his brain stem migrating over to the left. They drained as much of the cyst as they could however it was deep in his nerves so they also placed a shunt. He had a few bumps in the road in the beginning but seems to be recovering well now. Unfortunately this will likely not be the only surgery he needs and we will find out on Tuesday if they need to place another shunt for the enlarged ventricles. With all of this going on I haven’t worked in almost two weeks with no sight of going back anytime soon with my sons medical issues. Danville is an hour and 20 minutes each way away from us. Having to watch my baby go through this has been hard enough never mind adding in the stress of not having any income at the moment. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers for us during this time
