Hi everyone, my name is Brylie Sue. I was born with a rare medical condition called Gastroschisis. I was born with my large and small intestine, liver, spleen, gallbladder, and one ovary on the outside of my body. I was nine weeks premature only weighing 3 pounds 9 ounces. I spent the first three months of my life in the hospital. I have been 100% tube dependent since birth. I receive all of my nutrients through my feeding tube. I've been undergoing feeding and physical therapy since I was six months old and I am still having difficulty eating and drinking. We've tried many techniques, bottles, utensils, food, thin/thickened liquids, etc., but haven't had any luck so far. It is very important I learn to eat and drink and get my feeding tube removed before my big surgery coming up this summer. Due to my skin graft I don't have any stomach muscles so the doctors will be suturing my muscles together. Our last resort is the Tube Weaning Program at Spectrum Pediatrics in Alexandria, VA. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover the program so I am asking you all for help.
So many of my friends, family, and even complete strangers have been there for me since day one. All of your support and prayers have got me where I am today. I couldn't have done it without all of you. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless!
