I am raising money for Kenneth and Venz Briones to help their son Baby Steven.

Our dear baby Steven rarely smiles,
instead he grimaces and stares intently.
People might think he is quite intense for a baby, but what you don’t know is that
he is trying to smile bravely through the
pain that he has endured. 
You see our “Little warrior” is already
deep in battle the day he was born.  

Baby Steven was born extremely
premature. He was barely 24 months
when he came out into the world at
Aster Hospital amidst her Mama Venus’
high blood. This act that unknowing to
Steven had saved his mother’s life. Born
at 460 grams, he was immediately
intubated because he could hardly
breathe. He also had bleeding from both sides of his brain so at 50 days old baby
Steven went on surgery despite the risk
since he was only 1 kg. The risk entails
that he might not survive the anesthesia
and worst he might not survive the
surgery at all. 
 And while this painstaking endeavour
was going on, Steven’s daddy Kenneth
could not come to his operation, because while he was struggling for his survival
his father was battling cancer and was
having his chemo and radiation therapy
at the same time. 
 The surgery went on for almost 4 hours
and our little warrior survived the ordeal. The Paediatric Doctor disclosed to us
that baby Steven suffered from
Necrotizing enterocolitis (10cm of his
intestine is dead) a condition that would cause his body not to pass stool and
would in turn poison him had not been
for the surgery. With a stoma (an opening in the abdomen that allows waste to exit your body, rather than going through the digestive system). It is working well, and
the Surgeon told us that the surgery was a success. But as days go by his condition still remains the same, his abdomen was
slowly inflating day by day and he was
still on ventilator. And the surgery that
he had undergone will just be the first of
two more other surgeries that would
come after. One was successfully
executed on the 29th of November and
another to be scheduled soon. 

A family with a hospital bill of
322,000 AED and with only
AED 150, 000 covered by the
insurance, A father who lost his job and
had just recovered from   Squamous Cell Carcinoma (Oral Cancer – Tongue), A
mother who had been threatened to be
terminated from work due to her
company’s downsizing and baby Steven who is still vulnerable to infection and
constant suffering with another
operation due to inguinal hernia looming in the distance.
We could not give up on them!  As they
have not given up on the will to live. 

 We are humbly asking for every
help/support that you can offer. To
assure the wellness of baby Steven and
support his medical needs. Our
Baby Steven is knocking into your hearts as he is willing to fight and survive what
he is going through. We are hoping that
you can give him a chance to continue
fighting and eventually come out well and healthy.
