Baby Holly Burial Fund

At 9:40pm on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 my sister, Tabatha, gave birth to her third child, Baby Holly. At just 22 weeks along Tabatha labored for hours before her and David, her partner, got to meet their child. Tab and David held their child and kept Baby with them through the night. In the morning it was time to say goodbye. Baby Holly was stillborn.

About 2 months ago Tabatha went in for a routine ultrasound appointment only to learn that her growing child was suffering from Amniotic Band Syndrome. The bands from the amniotic sack had wound tightly around the baby’s lower half and prevented the legs from fully forming. The news was a lot to absorb but the doctor said that Baby looked healthy and happy in all other respects. Neither Tabatha nor David are strangers to adversity and what mattered most to them was that their child was active and happy.  A checkup sonogram was scheduled for two weeks later.

Two weeks passed and, while David and Tabatha knew they had a lot to learn in order to provide the right care for their special needs child, they were mostly anxious to see their baby again and confirm that the child was developing healthily. But that was not to be. The ABS had caused more damage than was noticeable during the initial ultrasound. The most devastating news was that Baby Holly had no bladder. A functioning bladder is a crucial element in the development of a full term baby. Barring a very larger and improbable miracle, Baby Holly was not going to make it to full term.

David and Tabatha now had to accept that their baby, a child they loved and wanted, would not survive. They carefully consulted with their doctors and with much deliberation; Tabatha made the decision to carry Baby until the end. The doctors supported this decision. Every week Tabatha went into the obstetrician’s office for an ultrasound in order to monitor her child's heartbeat, knowing full well that any appointment could be the one in which she learned her child was no longer growing inside of her.

On Friday, November 14th, that is exactly what happened. The doctor’s verified that Baby Holly's heartbeat was absent with a second scan and Tabatha was scheduled to be induced the next day.

David and Tabatha have loved their child every moment of this ordeal and Tabatha has treasured even the most painful moments of having her baby living inside her. We all love Baby Holly. We all feel the absence of one of our family members.

David and Tabatha are also supporting their three other children; Bella, 8, Braydon, 5, and Liam, 2. Tabatha is a full time student and didn’t learn of the complications with Baby Holly until after the drop deadlines for her semester. She has struggled with being a working mom and student throughout this ordeal. David has been a huge support and is a very involved father. On top of all of their already extreme struggles their car was totaled a month ago and it was their only family vehicle.

David and Tabatha have not asked for help and have worked very hard to be independent throughout their ordeal. But the fact is; they cannot afford to bury their baby and support their family through this holiday season and they need all the help they can get in order to lay Baby Holly to rest, in a place they can visit, and in order to keep their family in their home. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and will go toward aid of this brave family. Please help the Holly-Nye family survive this tragedy. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Have a blessed winter season.
