Baby Grayson

Grayson James Babb was born Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 7:54 am in Pocatello, ID.  He weighted 5 lbs 4 oz and measured 18 3/4 inches long.  His parents were told he had a heart murmur. Two hours after his birth he was taken in for a echo cardiogram that lasted several hour. About 10 hours after his birth,  Grayson was being sedated and flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah.

(Misty and Trevor parting from Grayson before his flight to SLC.)

Shortly after, Misty checked herself out of the hospital and was on her way to be with her new baby.  After lots of tests, monitoring  and a very scary procedure done in the Cath Lab, they were able to determine the problem.

Grayson has an undeveloped heart and a lung condition where his pulmonary artery did not develop making it extremely difficult for his lungs to get blood. This condition is called Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and Mapcas.

Misty and Trevor were able to take Grayson home a week later with little hope.  His condition is so serious, he is not expected to live without surgery.  With surgery, his life may be prolonged for a short time.  One problem is finding a surgeon who will perform the surgery.

Grayson has a feed tube, oxygen and a monitor.  He has nurses that come to the house twice a week to check on him.  He also has to see his pediatrician and cardiologists regularly.

During their time at Primary Children's Hospital, the staff had reached out to one of the best doctors who has the highest success rate for this condition.  He just recently informed Misty and Trevor that he would take Grayson as a patient. This doctor is at Stanford University, California.  They will have to plan to be in California a minimum of 3 weeks depending on how surgery and recovery go. Because of his rapidly declining health, this surgery may happen without much notice. So the family needs to be ready for anything.

Now while Misty and Trevor try to enjoy the time they have with their sweet Grayson, and figure out plans for surgery,  they are also struggling with the financial burden that come with a child with congential heart disease. They have insurance but the insurance company decided to put Grayson on his own insurance policy so they have two high deductibles, expenses for seeing doctors out of state including lodging, food and travel, and all expenses not covered by the insurance company.

For those of you who are interested in helping Misty and Trevor out, I (Misty's aunt) have set up this GoFundMe account for them.  Any size donation is greatly appreciated  by the family.  Thank you for your help and generosity.
