Baby Ella's medical fund

Dear Family and Friends:  On Thursday Feb 1, Our 10 month old cousin,  Ella came down with a respiratory virus and quickly went into respiratory distress. Ella was admitted to GBMC on Thursday, at 3 am. Ella was transferred to the PICU at Sinai Hospital because she required a higher level of intervention.  Despite all of the interventions, Ella was working extremely hard to breathe. It was very difficult to watch. As a last resort to help Ella, a breathing tube was inserted. We have cried hard today during a few very scary moments but Ella is now stable. The breathing machine is breathing for her so her lungs can rest. At this point Ella is being watched closely by her great PICU medical team.   Although the machines are breathing for her, Ella continues to show strength in making progress towards breathing on her own. Ella has been diagnosed with a bacterial infection and her most recent diagnosis is pneumonia. She had a central line placed yesterday but continues to develop fevers.  With these long hours spent at the hospital her mom has to pay for parking and buy her meals 
 because she does not have a place in the hospital to store  large meals that are being offered by friends and family. We set up this account  for people to donate to lesson the financial burden she is having to face. Although Ella does have health insurance, we want to help her mom as much as we can financially, especially  when those medical bills start coming in.
