Hi! We are the Green Team of Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, California. We are the environmental club at our school and we work to foster awareness about individual and global sustainability while also providing students with opportunities to get involved in local environmental projects.


We need to raise funds for one of our longest running projects: our Green Team Butterfly Sanctuary. Our project will provide butterfly populations with solace and sustenance as they embark upon their long southbound migration. The officers of Green Team collaborated with a landscape architect at Southwestern College, Michelle Landis, to develop an official plan which incorporates native plants and low-water techniques like drip irrigation. Thanks to RCP for donating decomposed granite, and Hydrascape Products for discounted irrigation equipment. The project has been officially approved by the school district; construction has started; and we meet every Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM to work.


Your donation will be used to buy tools, equipment, decomposed gravel and concrete for pathways, mulch, and compost, plants such as milkweed, benches, and a shaded classroom area. Our project is ongoing and will be further developed by future years of Green Team classes after we graduate from Bonita Vista High School.


We, as high school students, believe that this undertaking is incredibly important for not only our local ecosystems because of its environmental value but for our whole community because of its educational potential.
