Hi, my name is Jennifer, and this is Blau "Blue"—my 14 yr old retired service dog. I am an Army veteran, and Blau spent most of her life as my service dog. I had the privilege to witness her birth and fell in love in that moment. She stood beside me through military service, trauma, and some of the hardest seasons of my life. She wasn’t just trained to help me survive—she gave me purpose, stability, and unconditional love.
Blau was battling several serious medical conditions:
-Stage 3, chronic kidney disease (CKD)
-Pancreatitis
-Seizures
-Dementia
-Spondylosis (degenerative spinal disease)
-Significant hearing loss (about 90% deaf)
-And she is a two-time ACL surgery survivor
Despite everything, Blau remained gentle, quirky, and full of heart. She loved tennis balls, her stuffed unicorn, walks, and long naps. She is a trooper—but the reality is that caring for her became emotionally and financially overwhelming.
*Why I am Seeking Help*
Blau’s care required ongoing and consistent medical treatment, including:
-Regular IV and subcutaneous fluids
-Multiple daily medications
-Continuous bloodwork and monitoring
-Prescription specialty foods and kidney-safe treats
-Frequent veterinary and specialist visits
These costs added up quickly. Unfortunately, as of April 14, 2026, Blau, my soulmate, passed away. Thankfully I was able to honor her by having Lap of Love come to my home and give her a more comfortable/peaceful passing. I wouldn't have traded it for the world; however, it was expensive, costs $960.
I am currently not working because I help care for my mother and
stepfather. My stepfather is living with Parkinson’s dementia, which requires me to be available on call at all times. Between caring for my family and caring for Blau, working a traditional job simply isn’t possible right now.
*How the Funds Will Be Used*
Lap of Love Cost
Lingering Medical debt on Credit Card
Memorial Items such as an urn, etc.
*Why This Means Everything*
Blau spent her life taking care of me. She worked without complaint, loved without limits, and stayed loyal through everything. I am seeking help for her medical bills as losing her is already more than I can bare. Financial help would let me focus on her memorial and grieving vs accruing debt.
If you’re able to donate, share, or keep Blau in your thoughts, please know how deeply grateful I am. Every bit of support—financial or emotional—means more than words can express.
I am 38, live in Nashville, TN for about 4 years now. We moved here so I could help take care of my mom and stepfather, he has Parkinson's dementia. Because I am a part-time/on-call caretaker for them and a fulltime caretaker for my retired service dog I am currently not working (occasionally drive Uber when time allows). The money will be a godsend and will truly be used for her medical debt and her journey to heaven.
*IF* you read this thoroughly, that means alot to me and I sincerely value your time. Thank you.
